If you are working in physical retail (i.e. having a shop on a street), it is often said that the three factors of success are location, location and location. Where your shop is located and what foot traffic you get will make or break your business.
For SaaS, the same analogy could be used. What will make or break your business is your customer Lifetime Value: LTV, LTV and LTV.
Why? Because if you have a good LTV you can invest more in doing everything else, in particular in acquiring new customers.
There are only three possible ways you can grow your SaaS revenues:
Get more customers
Increase your prices
Get more revenues from existing customers (retention and upsells)
In this newsletter, we will look at these challenges for SaaS businesses and how to address them.
About the author
Who am I to talk about SaaS? My name is JC and I am a co-founder of iLathys, a bootstrapped venture builder. I have been an entrepreneur for more than 10 years. I have launched SaaS and services businesses. Some did well, some failed miserably and too many were in between.
I learned many lessons and I also met a lot of other SaaS entrepreneurs, who shared their experience with me. I will interview many of them. Some of them have $100k of MRR and other ones have $100m.
Tony Robbins often says that by reading a book you can absorb years of experience of someone else. The same goes by learning from peers in your industry. By interviewing successful SaaS leaders, I want to learn from them and share their lessons with you.
Who is this newsletter for and what you can expect
This newsletter is primarily intended for SaaS Leaders: SaaS founders and their teams. Anyone else interested in the topic is of course welcome to subscribe. The lessons from SaaS could also be useful in particular for aspiring entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in other industries.
I will not spam you and will send an issue no more than twice a month. I will share my own experience, those of others and also focus on some specific topic with answers from panels of experts.
If you are interested in being interviewed or part of a panel of experts, please connect with me on Linkedin.
My mission with this newsletter is to become a better SaaS leader and help other SaaS companies grow at the same time. I have learned a lot from free information and it’s my small contribution to give back.
To your SaaS success!
